Agentic Detritus Remover

Find what your installers left behind

MacDev Tools

Agentic Detritus Remover finds what your installers have left behind, and lets you remove it safely. It scans for five kinds of residue: clusters of files an installer created in one sitting, hooks or plugins injected into an AI coding CLI that its own vendor never shipped, orphaned files whose owning app or package is already gone, shell startup files quietly mutated by an installer, and key-shaped secrets sitting where they shouldn't be. The hook detector works off a vendor allowlist, what each agent CLI legitimately ships, rather than a blocklist of known-bad tools, so an installer nobody has heard of yet is still caught. A scan is read-only. Removing a finding quarantines it rather than deleting it, and every removal can be undone.

Features

Cluster detection: five or more unrelated files created in the same minute, tied to one installer event
Hook injection: catches a hook, plugin, or skill an AI coding CLI's own vendor never shipped
Orphan detection: files whose owning app or package is confirmed gone, never a name-only guess
Shell rc mutation: installer blocks and exported secrets quietly added to your shell startup files
Secret residue: key-shaped strings found and redacted in place; backups and histories are quarantined whole
Every finding is explained in plain language
Scan is read-only; Remove quarantines instead of deleting, and Undo restores it
